Overview
An island temple complex in the Indus near Rohri and Sukkur, described in several sources as the largest Hindu temple complex in Pakistan. It was founded in 1823 by the Udasi ascetic Baba Bankhandi Maharaj on a then-uninhabited forested island, and its main temple was built in 1899.

Spiritual Significance
Its importance is as a living pilgrimage centre and as a rare surviving institution of the Udasi tradition, which sits between Hindu and Sikh practice: the complex holds space for both the Guru Granth Sahib and the Bhagavad Gita. It is included here on those grounds rather than on antiquity, since it is a nineteenth-century foundation.

Pilgrimage Information
Current status: Active and, by the accounts consulted, well maintained, under the custody of the Evacuee Trust Property Board. Anyone planning to travel should check entry requirements and local conditions independently and close to the date. Indian passport holders face visa restrictions for Pakistan that change with the political weather, and access to several of these sites has historically depended on organised pilgrim groups rather than individual travel.
