Atithi
Local stays, home-cooked food and local guides, near the places people come to worship.
Atithi devo bhava: the guest is divine. Most pilgrimage towns are served by hotel booking sites that never quite fit, and by nothing at all when what you want is a family home, food cooked the way it is cooked locally, and someone who actually knows the place.
That is what Atithi is for. It is not built yet, and we would rather say so than show you an empty directory.
How it will work
- You are paid directly. No money passes through us. We are not a booking engine and we hold no availability.
- We say what we checked, and when. Not “verified”. A listing will say who visited, on what date, and what they found. We will never describe a place as safe, because nobody can promise that about anyone.
- Only guests who actually stayed can review. Ratings will break down separately for women’s safety, children, families, food, cleanliness and access, rather than hiding behind one number.
- Local and modest over luxurious. Nobody needs us to find them a hotel chain.
- A serious safety report removes a listing immediately. Pending review, with no burden of proof on the person reporting.
Hosts, cooks and guides: register interest
If you run a homestay, cook for guests, or guide visitors near a sacred site, tell us about yourself. We are collecting interest now so that we can start with a small number of places we have genuinely visited, rather than a long list we have not.
Registering interest is not a listing, and we may not be able to include everyone. Tell us where you are, what you offer, who is in the household, and how long you have been doing it.
