guru kī mūrata mana meṃ dhyāna| guru ke śabda mantara manamāna||
Hold the Guru's form in meditation within your mind; take the Guru's word as the mantra your mind embraces.
guru ke caraṇa hṛdaya lai dhāro| guru pāra brahmā sadā namaskāra||
Enshrine the Guru's feet in your heart; the Guru is the Supreme Brahman — bow to Him always.
mata koī bharama bhūle saṃsāra| guru bina koī na utarisa pāra||
Let no one in this world wander lost in delusion; without the Guru, none can cross over to the far shore.
bhūle ko sataguru māraga pāyā| avara tyāga hari bhakti lāyā||
To one who had gone astray, the True Guru showed the path; renouncing all else, he was brought to devotion for the Lord.
janma maraṇa kī guru trāsa miṭāī| guru pūre kī beanta vaḍiāī||
The Guru has erased the torment of birth and death; boundless is the greatness of the Perfect Guru.
guru prasāda uragha kamala bigāsa| andhakāra meṃ bhayo prakāśa||
By the Guru's grace, the lotus of the heart turned upward and blossomed; light dawned amid the darkness.
jina kiyo so guru te jāniyā| guru kṛpā te mugdha mana māniyā||
Whoever attained this came to know it through the Guru; by the Guru's grace, even the bewildered mind came to accept it.
guru kartā sataguru karane joga| guru parameśvara hai bhī hoga||
The Guru is the Doer, the True Guru is capable of all; the Guru is God — He is, and He shall ever be.
kaho 'nānaka' prabhu eho janāī| guru bina mukti na pāiye bhāī||
Says Nanak: this the Lord has made known — without the Guru, liberation is not attained, O brother.
