For the highest good, incarnate in the world

गुरु जी ने है लीन्हा

Guru ji ne hai linha

the Guru has taken this form

हम जैसे भागियन को

Ham jaise bhagiyan ko

to fortunate ones like us

गृह दर्शन दीन्हा

Grih darshan dinha

he granted darshan at our very home

कलि कुटिल जीव निस्तारण को

Kali kutil jiv nistaran ko

To deliver the crooked souls of the Kali age

प्रभु संत रूप धर के

Prabhu sant roop dhar ke

the Lord took the form of a saint

आतम को दर्शावत

Aatam ko darshavat

reveals the true self, the soul

मल धोये है मन के

Mal dhoye hai man ke

and washes away the impurities of the mind

आप पाप त्रय ताप गये

Aap paap tray taap gaye

one's sins and the three afflictions depart

जो गुरु शरणी आये

Jo guru sharani aaye

for whoever comes to the Guru's refuge

गुरु जी से लाल अमोलक

Guru ji se lal amolak

the priceless jewel from the Guru

तिस जन ने पाये

Tis jan ne paaye

that person has received

सहज समाधि अनाहत ध्वनि

Sahaj samadhi anahat dhwani

natural absorption and the unstruck sound

जप अजपा बतलाये

Jap ajapa batlaaye

he taught the effortless (ajapa) repetition

प्राणायाम की लहरें

Pranayam ki laharein

the waves of pranayama, breath-control

मेरे मन भाये

Mere man bhaaye

delight my mind

हरि कृपा कर जन्म दियो

Hari kripa kar janm diyo

By Hari's grace we are given birth

जग मात पिता द्वारे

Jag maat pita dvare

into the world through mother and father

उनसे अधिक गुरु जी है

Unse adhik guru ji hai

but the Guru is greater than they

भवनिधि से तारें

Bhavnidhi se taaren

for they carry us across the ocean of existence

तले की वस्तु गगन ठहरावे

Tale ki vastu gagan thahrave

he can hold what is below up in the sky

गुरु के शब्द शर से

Guru ke shabd shar se

by the arrow of the Guru's word

सो सूरा सो पूरा

So soora so poora

he alone is the true hero, he alone is complete

बल में वह बरते

Bal mein vah barte

he abides in true strength

तत स्नेह प्रेम की बाती

Tat sneh prem ki baati

the wick of pure affection and love

योग अगन जिन के

Yog agan jin ke

in whom burns the fire of yoga

आरती लायक सो जन

Aarti layak so jan

that person alone is worthy to offer the aarti

जो है शुद्ध मन के

Jo hai shuddh man ke

who is pure of mind
