jai sat citta ānanda mūrti, svāmī jī ke caraṇa vandana| jo de upadeśa kaleśa nāśe, kalū ke kaliśa vibhaṃjana||

Glory to the embodiment of Truth, Consciousness, and Bliss — I bow at the feet of Swami ji. He gives teaching that destroys sorrow, and shatters the afflictions of this age of Kali.

jo jñāna nidhi vijñāna dāyaka ghāikaṃ saba duṣkṛtaṃ| yuta yoga bhogahiṃ roga jāne sukha-duḥkhaṃ sama ari mitraṃ||

He is a treasury of knowledge, the giver of true wisdom, and the destroyer of every sin. United with yoga, He regards worldly pleasure as a disease, and looks equally upon joy and sorrow, friend and foe.

paramārtha patha bheda veda ke kheda bina jo dāyakaṃ| śaraṇāgata ke bharama hata ke satya hī ke kara lāyakaṃ||

He, without weariness, reveals the hidden path to the ultimate truth, the very essence of the Vedas. He destroys the delusion of those who take refuge in Him, and makes them fit to hold only Truth.

mala dala amala acala padāmbuja śrī satguru jī ko jo dhyāvataṃ| sukha suyaśa sugati subuddhi suśāṃti bina prayāsa so pāvataṃ||

Those who meditate on the pure, unshaken lotus feet of Shri Satguru ji, which destroy every impurity, attain happiness, good repute, a good end, right wisdom, and true peace, all without effort.

hai jaga janma saphala tisakā jo guru pada raja mana lāvahīṃ| jyoṃ pārasa parasa kudhātu sudhare so phira janma na āvahīṃ||

Fruitful in this world is the birth of one who fixes his mind upon the dust of the Guru's feet. Just as base metal is transmuted by the touch of the philosopher's stone, so such a one is never born again.

dayā ke siṃdhu jyoṃ śītala indu jyoṃ oṃ ke biṃdu jyoṃ bhāṣataṃ| teja mahi bhānu jyoṃ vidyā kī khāna jyoṃ aharniśi dhyāna meṃ vāstam||

He is like an ocean of compassion, like the cooling moon; He speaks as if He were the very essence of Om. Radiant like the sun upon the earth, a mine of wisdom, He abides constantly in meditation, day and night.

parama dharma śrī satguru kī sevā vidita naraka nivāranaṃ| jāṃ so śabda bhava bandhana kāṭe samajha paḍa़ta eha kāraṇaṃ||

The highest duty is service to Shri Satguru, known to remove one from hell. By His Word the bonds of worldly existence are severed — this truth becomes clear to those who understand.

saṃta mahātmā aura buddhijana veda purāṇa eha gāvahiṃ| prabhu se adhika satguru jo seve so niścaya satguru jī pāvahiṃ||

Saints, great souls, and the wise proclaim this truth from the Vedas and Puranas: whoever serves the Satguru even above the Lord shall surely attain Satguru ji.

śuka sanakādika dhruva nārada ādi guru upadeśa se amaraṇaṃ| ṛṣi munijana prakaṭa jaga meṃ le dīkṣā satguru simaraṇaṃ||

Shuka, Sanaka and his brothers, Dhruva, Narada, and others attained immortality through the Guru's teaching. Sages and seers became renowned in this world by taking initiation and holding the Satguru in remembrance.

guru yaśa diga pada aharniśi gāvata daśo-diśi bhrama duḥkha jārataṃ| śrī guru pada jalaja ali mana jāṃko 'sāhiba canda' ucārataṃ||

One who sings the Guru's glory day and night in every direction burns away confusion and sorrow in all ten directions. This hymn, whose mind is a bee drawn to Shri Guru's lotus feet, is composed by the poet who signs himself 'Sahib Chand'.
