Sarathi Arun hain Prabhu tum shvet kamaldhara

O Lord, Aruna is your charioteer; you hold a white lotus

तुम चार भुजाधारी

Tum char bhujadhara

you bear four arms

अश्व हैं सात तुम्हारे कोटि किरण पसारे

Ashv hain sat tumhare koti kiran pasare

seven horses draw your chariot, and you spread out millions of rays

तुम हो देव महान

Tum ho dev mahan

you are the great deity

ऊषाकाल में जब तुम उदयाचल आते

Ushakal mein jab tum udayachal ate

when at dawn you rise over the eastern mountain

सब तब दर्शन पाते

Sab tab darshan pate

all then receive your darshan

फैलाते उजियारा जागता तब जग सारा

Failate ujiyara jagata tab jag sara

you spread light, and then the whole world awakens

करे सब तब गुणगान

Kare sab tab gungan

then all sing your praises

संध्या में भुवनेश्वर अस्ताचल जाते

Sandhya mein Bhuvaneshvar astachal jate

at dusk, O Lord of the worlds, you go to the western mountain

गोधन तब घर आते

Godhan tab ghar ate

the cattle then return home

गोधूलि बेला में हर घर हर आंगन में

Godhuli bela mein har ghar har aangan mein

at the cow-dust hour, in every home and every courtyard

हो तव महिमा गान

Ho tav mahima gan

your glory is sung

देव दनुज नर नारी ऋषि मुनिवर भजते

Dev danuj nar nari rishi munivar bhajate

gods, demons, men, women, sages and seers worship you

आदित्य हृदय जपते

Aditya hridaya japate

they chant the Aditya Hridaya, the hymn to the Sun

स्तोत्र ये मंगलकारी इसकी है रचना न्यारी

Stotra ye mangalkari iski hai rachna nyari

तुम हो त्रिकाल रचयिता तुम जग के आधार

you are the creator of the three times, the foundation of the world

महिमा तब अपरम्पार

Mahima tab aparampar

your glory is boundless

प्राणों का सिंचन करके भक्तों को अपने देते

Pranon ka sincan karke bhakton ko apane dete

nourishing life itself, you grant your devotees

बल बुद्धि और ज्ञान

Bal buddhi aur gyan

strength, intellect and wisdom

भूचर जलचर खेचर सबके हों प्राण तुम्हीं

Bhuchar jalchar khechar sabke hon pran tumhin

of all creatures of land, water and sky, you alone are the life-breath

सब जीवों के प्राण तुम्हीं

Sab jivon ke pran tumhin

you alone are the life of all beings

वेद पुराण बखाने धर्म सभी तुम्हें माने

Ved Puran bakhane dharm sabhi tumhen mane

the Vedas and Puranas extol you, and all dharmas acknowledge you

तुम ही सर्वशक्तिमान

Tum hi sarva-shaktiman

you alone are all-powerful

पूजन करतीं दिशाएं पूजे दश दिक्पाल

Pujan karti dishaen puje dash dikpal

the directions worship you, the ten guardians of the quarters adore you

तुम भुवनों के प्रतिपाल

Tum bhuvanon ke pratipal

you are the sustainer of the worlds

ऋतुएं तुम्हारी दासी तुम शाश्वत अविनाशी

Rituyen tumhari dasi tum shashvat avinashi

the seasons are your handmaidens; you are eternal and imperishable
