Overview
On the southern side of Suhrawardy Udyan, the former Ramna Race Course in Dhaka. Historically one of the city's most important Kali temples, destroyed in 1971 and rebuilt, with re-inauguration in 2021.
History
The two sources consulted disagree. One describes the temple as about three hundred years old with a main structure built in the early seventeenth century; the other differs. The disagreement is recorded rather than resolved. The temple before 1971 had a shikhara-style tower of 96 feet, a large dighi, and an adjoining Ma Anandamoyee Ashram with residential quarters.
Spiritual Significance
Ramna Kali Mandir carries a weight beyond its architecture. It is a site of one of the documented mass killings of the Liberation War, and its rebuilding half a century later, with Indian government assistance, made it a marker of how that history is remembered.

Confirm festival dates and local conditions close to the time of travel. Several of these sites hold gatherings of very large scale.
Preservation
Protection status. None found in the sources consulted. On 27 March 1971, during Operation Searchlight, the Pakistan Army entered the temple and ashram complex and killed more than a hundred people within about an hour. The temple was destroyed. This is the documented record and the platform states it plainly.
