Overview
A major Shvetambara pilgrimage centre near Balotra, distinguished by the strength of the Nakoda Bhairava guardian-deity cult alongside the Parshvanatha shrine, which draws Hindu devotees as well as Jain. Sect: Shvetambara, Murtipujaka, administered by the Tapa Gaccha order.
History
Jain legend attributes an initial temple to the third century BCE under Acharya Sthulabhadra. That is a traditional claim and is not independently evidenced.
Spiritual Significance
Nakoda is where the boundary between Jain and Hindu devotion is most visibly porous: the Bhairava shrine attracts petitioners from both communities, which is unusual at a tirtha of this rank. The principal shrine is a large domical structure with fifty-two domical sub-shrines.
