Overview
A bathing place on the old Brahmaputra southeast of Dhaka, and the site of the Ashtami Snan, one of the largest annual Hindu gatherings in Bangladesh, drawing well over a million pilgrims.
History
No archaeological or inscriptional dating was found. The site's significance rests on Puranic and legendary association together with the scale of the living observance. No individual temple architecture was documented; the site is described in terms of its ghats.
Spiritual Significance
Langalbandh is a pilgrimage of water rather than of a building. Tradition links the holiness of the bathing place to the sage Parashurama, and the observance is about the river and the day, not about a temple.

Preservation
Protection status. None found in the sources consulted. No 1971 or communal damage was found. One documented safety incident: a stampede during the Ashtami Snan on 27 March 2015 killed pilgrims. Anyone attending a gathering of this size should plan accordingly.
