Overview
At Nathnagar in Bhagalpur, on the site of ancient Champa, capital of the Anga mahajanapada. Uniquely claimed as the site of all five kalyanakas of Vasupujya. Sect: Shared, with parallel Digambara and Shvetambara temples.
History
The site of ancient Champa carries Northern Black Polished Ware occupation, placing urban settlement here in the first millennium BCE. That archaeology dates the city, not the temples.
Spiritual Significance
This is what makes Champapuri singular. For every other tirthankara the five auspicious events, conception, birth, initiation, omniscience and liberation, are scattered across different places. For Vasupujya all five are placed here, and no other tirthankara has that at a single site. Both Digambara and Shvetambara communities maintain temples, operating as parallel institutions rather than in dispute.
