Meaning

Salutations, salutations to You, Tulsi Maharani; Your glory is boundless and cannot be described.

Vishnu bestowed great honour upon You; Your glorious fame has spread throughout the world.

Beloved of Vishnu, victory, victory to You, O Bhavani; You are the treasure of joy for all three worlds.

Whoever worships the Lord, without You that worship does not bear fruit.

In whichever home You do not dwell, Vishnu too does not make His abode there.

Whoever remembers You always, every day, all their tasks are fulfilled.

Your greatness in the month of Kartik, the whole world knows of it.

Whichever unmarried maiden worships You, that gentle girl obtains a handsome groom.

Whichever married woman worships You with constant love, she becomes happy with joy and prosperity.

Whichever elderly woman performs Your worship, she attains devotion and her heart fills with joy.

Whoever worships You with faith crosses over the ocean of worldly existence.

One who has the Bhagavat katha recited or performs a yajna, without You it does not attain success.

Your mighty glory has spread over the whole world; all who set their mind to it meditate upon You.

You alone, O Mother, dwell within yantras and tantras; through You every task is accomplished in an instant.

You, O Mother, take the form of medicine; Your fame is renowned throughout the world.

Gods, sages, seers, and ascetics forever sing Your praises and hail Your victory.

The Vedas and Puranas have sung Your glory; Your greatness is unfathomable, its limit never found.

Salutations, salutations, victory, victory to You, the bestower of joy; salutations, salutations to You, the remover of sorrow.

Salutations, salutations to You, the giver of joy and prosperity; salutations, salutations to You, the chisel that cuts away sin.

Salutations, salutations to You, who takes away the sorrow of devotees; salutations, salutations to You, who cuts down the arrogance of the wicked.

Salutations, salutations to You, who ferries us across worldly existence; salutations, salutations to You, who betters our life beyond.

Salutations, salutations to You, who rescues Your own devotees; salutations, salutations to You, who sets right the tasks of Your people.

Salutations, salutations, victory to You, who destroys ill wisdom; salutations, salutations to You, who gives rise to every joy.

Victory, victory, victory to You, Mother Tulsi; I bow my head and meditate upon You.

Knowing me as Your own, accept me; set right my ruined affairs.

I offer this prayer to You, O Mother; please fulfil our every hope.

With joined hands I take refuge at Your feet and entreat You; day and night I sing only of Your virtues.

O Mother, show me this mercy now, that my whole being become pure.

O Mother, I ask You to grant this boon, that all my heart's desires be fulfilled.

I know nothing of the proper rites and conduct; O Mother, forgive my faults.

Whoever worships You for all twelve months, there is none other like them in this world.

First one should call for Ganga water, then bathe You beautifully with it.

One should offer sandalwood paste, unbroken rice, and flowers, and present incense, a lamp, and food offerings.

One should sip Ganga water in ritual purification, and meditate with a pure heart.

Then one should recite this Chalisa, and offer praise to Mother Tulsi.

Whoever always worships in this manner, no affliction remains in their body.

One who practises this discipline through the month of Kartik, ever pure, becomes accomplished.

This tale is a great bestower of joy; whoever reads or hears it crosses over worldly existence.
